The national average infant mortality rate per 1,000 live births is 7.1. For African Americans it is 13.6. Addressing this disparity, the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health, is closing this gap with “A Healthy Baby Begins with You.” The campaign results indicate this effort is becoming a major social movement...and one of MAYA’s proudest moments.
